Nathalie Durocher is a partner in the Insurance group of the Dentons’ Montréal office.

With deep expertise in insurance law, professional liability and regulatory compliance, Nathalie is a trusted advisor to insurance companies, insurance brokers and financial institutions. She assists clients with all manner of services to support their operations, from the registration of firms (insurers, brokers, managing general agents (MGAs)), regulatory compliance review of their processes, insurance products development, and licensing of firms with regulatory authorities across Canada, to transactions involving insurance firms, brokers, MGAs and insurance general agents (IGAs). She is a seasoned resource for insurance policy reviews aiming to confirm policies’ compliance and to adapt them to Québec and Canadian law, as well as for the translation and revision of insurance policies and endorsements.

She is recognized as an opinion leader in the field of internet-based insurance sales and other alternative distribution methods. She has an in-depth knowledge of the legislative and regulatory framework applicable to the sale of insurance products, including e-commerce related to insurance products and financial services. In addition, she provides opinions on damage insurance, professional liability, construction, financial services, pollution, and personal insurance coverage, as well as on the legality and compliance of insurance and financial services distribution networks.

Nathalie acts for insurers and insureds in all manner of liability claims, including with respect to professional liability and construction, and other disputes. She advises clients on various insurance contracts involving property damage, commercial general liability (CGL), errors and omissions (E&O), financial risk, construction, aviation, cyber risk, life and disability. She has leading experience representing clients in insurance litigation relating to the professional civil liability of insurance brokers, real estate brokers and other professionals, including in the construction sector.

With a strong profile in the insurance sector, she is a sought-after speaker and prolific writer on a variety of topics related to insurance law, information technology and regulatory compliance with respect to financial products and services distribution.
