Taras Povorozniuk is a seasoned professional with over a decade of experience in international trade matters. His expertise encompasses a broad spectrum of trade-related issues, including trade law and policy in various jurisdictions – the EU, Ukraine, Türkiye, India, and others), sanctions and export controls in the EU, UK, and Ukraine, trade defence instruments globally, EU ETS and CBAM, EU product regulatory and safety rules, and World Trade Organization law and practice.

Specifically, Taras possesses in-depth knowledge of international trade policies, regulations, and agreements. He can navigate the complexities of trade between various jurisdictions, ensuring compliance and maximizing business opportunities. Taras offers expert advice on customs procedures and regulations across multiple jurisdictions, including preferential trade arrangements, GSP, rules of origin and customs classification.

In addition, Taras stays informed on the latest sanctions regimes, advising clients on how to ensure adherence to swiftly evolving regulations and compliance practice.

Since 2023, Taras has developed a strong understanding of the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), a key policy initiative impacting international trade. He can advise both exporting producers and importers on how to comply with CBAM regulations and adjust their production and sales flows in order to minimize CBAM's impact on client's competitiveness.

Prior to joining Dentons, Taras gained valuable experience as an intern at the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (Vienna, Austria) and the European Commission's Directorate-General for Trade (Brussels, Belgium). This early exposure to international trade at the highest levels solidified his dedication to the field.
