Position

James is a Consultant in the litigation and dispute resolution department and undertakes a wide variety of litigation. His particular specialisms are fraud, regulatory and inquiry work. James represents public and private businesses, individuals and regulators who have been the victim of fraud, carrying out detailed investigations and recovering assets. He also acts for the defence – those who are being investigated or pursued for assets. Of particular use is his accountancy background, which allows him to work effectively as part of a team of investigators, and gives him an understanding outside the traditional legal framework. James also undertakes a wide variety of commercial and other litigation and investigation cases, including disciplinary proceedings, judicial review, public inquiries, criminal investigations, negligence and contractual disputes.

Recent cases include: regularly instructed by the Solicitors Regulation Authority as an intervention agent and in litigation and disciplinary cases; acting for over 80 former soldiers in numerous inquiries, investigations and prosecutions in Northern Ireland, including Bloody Sunday.

Career

Trained Devonshires; qualified 1999; partner 2007.
