Hilary Bonaccorsi focuses her practice on advising clients across industries on the intersecting patchwork of global laws that govern privacy and data security.
Ms. Bonaccorsi has extensive experience assisting clients in the asset management industry. She advises U.S. registered investment advisers on their obligations under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the SEC’s privacy and information security regulations, and provides strategic advice to asset managers regarding how to evaluate their obligations under state and federal law. She also works closely with clients to develop compliance programs related to the development and purchasing of alternative data sets and the risks related to web scraping.
Ms. Bonaccorsi counsels clients across sectors on their obligations under the California Consumer Privacy Act, FTC and state consumer privacy laws, the EU General Data Protection Regulation and CAN-SPAM. She is well-versed in complex privacy issues arising in the ad-tech and fin-tech industries and has worked hand-in-hand with clients to develop and implement comprehensive global privacy programs. She works with Dechert’s global data privacy practice to deliver time-sensitive advice to clients regarding how to comply with breach notification laws in the wake of data breaches. Ms. Bonaccorsi also conducts privacy due diligence in connection with commercial transactions.
