The practice is chaired by Dallas managing partner Marc Katz leads the practice from Dallas. Katz has huge experience of dispute and pre-dispute resolution and is the key point of contact for significant clients based in the region, such as the Dallas Cowboys and Six Flags, Inc. Also in Dallas, of counsel Todd Mobley has a track record of work on collective and class action disputes. The firm’s Palo Alto office advises a range of Silicon Valley companies, including work for their offices abroad – for example, Ute Krudewagen is providing ongoing advice for Zendesk on both US and global employment issues in its over twenty international locations. In New York, Brian Kaplan is seasoned in representing both employers and executives in significant litigation.

DLA Piper LLP (US)‘ team excels in arbitration and is also able to litigate before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). The group collaborates with clients in corporate campaigns and other labor activity, as well as regularly advising on and negotiating collective bargaining agreements as well as acting in labor peace (LPA) negotiations. Team leader Marc Katz is based in Dallas and oversees much of the group’s contentious work due to his experience in these matters. Katz is well supported by Joseph Piesco and Kevin Harlow in New York and San Diego respectively.

The labor and employment group at DLA Piper LLP (US) is equipped to handle wage and hour, collective, and representative actions, as well as discrimination and COVID-related litigation. National practice lead Marc Katz also acts as managing partner at the Dallas office; his broad practice encompasses trade secret and unfair competition litigation, fiduciary duty and partnership disputes, and class action. In New York, Mary Dollarhide is routinely involved in discrimination, harassment, and breach of contract claims; Joseph Piesco, also in New York, regularly works on wage and hour class actions. San Diego-based Julie Dunne has knowledge of private attorney general representative actions under Californian law and the Fair Labor Standards Act. In New Jersey Brian Kaplan disputes experience includes the enforcement of restrictive covenants, and tort and breach of fiduciary duty claims. Partner Troy Valdez joined the team from Coblentz Patch Duffy & Bass LLP in April 2023.
