Career

Jimmy is a European Patent Attorney (EPA), UK Patent Attorney, French Patent Attorney (CPI) and European Patent Litigator (UPC representative). He drafts and prosecutes patent applications relating to a broad range of inventions in the biotechnology and life sciences fields, spanning immunology, antibodies, antibody discovery, genetic engineering, nucleic acid amplification, biosensors, agriculture and food technology. He has a keen interest in genetics and protein biochemistry, having worked on isolating a protein complex involved in regulation of a tumour suppressor locus in his PhD studies.

Jimmy works with a variety of clients in Europe, the US and elsewhere including small to mid-size biotechnology companies, technology transfer offices and university spin-outs, handling large patent portfolios.

Jimmy additionally has experience with analysis of third party patents and portfolios, including global surveillance and pre/post-grant challenge of competitor patents and patent applications, and freedom to operate searches and opinions. He also has worked on multiple Oppositions and Appeals at the European Patent Office and has been involved in a multinational opposition/litigation project relating to transgenic animal platforms for antibody discovery.

Jimmy became a partner at J A Kemp in 2016. He speaks fluent English and French and is currently based in J A Kemp’s Paris office.
