Career

Jacqueline is a member of our trade mark team and has extensive experience in managing large portfolios, particularly advising on international filing strategies and foreign filings and prosecution. Her work includes acting in oppositions before the UKIPO and advising on multi-jurisdictional disputes, with extensive experience in negotiating settlement agreements. She has also been involved in DRS and UDRP proceedings at Nominet and WIPO respectively relating to domain names and handles a number of domain name watches for her clients. Jacqueline has been involved in foreign domain dispute proceedings and in negotiating domain transfers from third parties.

Jacqueline works with a wide range of clients across all technologies and sectors, such as ecommerce, food and beverage, media, engineering, and manufacturing.

She joined Mewburn Ellis in 2011 before qualifying as a UK Chartered Trade Mark Attorney in 2014. She did a secondment at a US firm in 2016 and later joined the partnership in 2019.

Jacqueline regularly visits China and attends the China Trademark Festival.

Education

Jacqueline has an LLB from The London School of Economics and Political Science and an LLM from the University of Cambridge.

The team assists clients throughout the entirety of their brand lifecycles, from creation and registration to enforcement and portfolio management. It also handles a wide range of disputes, including oppositions, cancellations, revocations, and infringement actions, and it regularly appears before the UKIPO, DPMA, and EUIPO. Andy King took over as chair of the department in November 2023 with expertise in filing strategies and invalidity actions. Previous practice head Kate O’Rourke has a focus on the leisure and hospitality sector, and she continues to act for clients in the international enforcement of their trade marks. Other key members of the team include Jacqueline Pang and Bristol-based Rebecca Anderson-Smith, who advises start-ups and market leaders in the pharmaceutical, consumer healthcare, and MedTech industries.
