Career

Caroline is an experienced solicitor and member of our legal services team. Caroline specialises in the protection and enforcement of all intellectual property rights and has extensive experience of advising on a wide range of contentious intellectual property matters. She has particular experience in conducting trade mark, design right (registered and unregistered) and patent infringement matters. She also advises on disputes involving confidential information, trade secrets, copyright, passing off and domain names. Caroline has advised on proceedings before the High Court, Court of Appeal, Intellectual Property Enterprise Court and the UK Intellectual Property Office. Caroline’s advanced scientific training makes her particularly well suited to dealing with complex technology.

Caroline assists a wide range of clients from large international brand owners, iconic independent brands to SMEs. Caroline advises across a range of industries and technologies including fashion, food and drink, sport and leisure, entertainment, technology, biotech, medical devices and chemicals. After spending a decade living in Boston USA, Caroline particularly enjoys working with the firm’s American clients.

Caroline joined Mewburn Ellis LLP in 2018.

Education

Caroline has a degree in biology from the Kings College London, a PhD in applied biochemistry from the University of Liverpool and undertook four years of postdoctoral research in neurobiology and epigenetics at Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her research has resulted in high profile publications in Nature and Cell.

Caroline obtained a Graduate Diploma in Law from the University of the West of England and then joined a leading UK law firm in 2011 where she trained and qualified into their nationally recognised litigation and IP team.
