Hanns is a European, German and Chartered UK patent attorney, as well as a European trade mark and design attorney, and works at D Young & Co's Munich office.

Most of his work is for large and medium-sized corporate clients from the UK, US and mainland Europe, particularly in the area of preparation and prosecution of patent applications. As a German patent attorney, Hanns also advises on German intellectual property rights.

Hanns' main areas of expertise are in the field of automotive engineering, computer-implemented inventions, medical technology, microprocessor engineering, semiconductors and telecommunications. His strong technical background comes from his degrees and PhD in electronic engineering, his many years of experience working in private practice, as well as from working in-house in the Infineon Technologies Intellectual Property Department for six years.
