Career

Richard’s practice spans the full patent lifecycle, from patent drafting and prosecution to freedom-to-practice and EPO opposition work.  With a caseload that focuses on consumer products, including household appliances, Richard enjoys seeing products he’s helped to protect in everyday life.

Richard obtained a first class MChem degree from the University of Oxford in 2009.  He remained in Oxford completing a DPhil in Inorganic Chemistry in 2013 before moving to The Netherlands to pursue industrial research in the fields of catalysis and polymer chemistry.  As well as publishing his work in peer-reviewed journals, Richard’s research has resulted in him being named as an inventor on a number of patent applications.  He is a full member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and is certified as both a Chartered Chemist and a Chartered Scientist.

Richard is a Chartered (UK) and European Patent Attorney, holds an Intellectual Property Litigation Certificate issued by the UK’s Intellectual Property Regulation Board, and is registered as a representative before the Unitary Patent Court.
