Career

Mark has experience across a broad range of patent matters, with particular expertise in prosecuting applications before the European Patent Office and the UK Intellectual Property Office, and conducting large-scale freedom-to-operate investigations relating to medical devices for generic pharmaceutical companies, including providing advice on acquisitions and Europe-wide new product launches.

Mark has a degree in chemistry and primarily handles work in the field of materials science, but is uniquely comfortable with a broad range of subject-matter, spanning from pure chemistry to aspects of mechanical engineering.  Within these fields, Mark’s work is focused on glasses, ceramic materials, composite materials, respiratory medical devices and auto-injector devices.

Mark joined Elkington + Fife in March 2012, prior to which he worked for the Ministry of Defence (MOD) at the Defence Science and Technology Laboratories (DSTL), specialising in organic and analytical chemistry.
