Career

Alison’s work relates to a wide range of chemistry inventions including inks, medical devices and materials.  She is mainly involved in prosecuting patent applications through to grant but she also has experience in drafting and opposition work.

Alison qualified as a European patent attorney in 2018, passing the European Qualifying Examination (EQE) at her first attempt, and she qualified as a UK patent attorney in 2019.

Before training to become a patent attorney, Alison studied Chemistry at the University of Oxford and obtained her MChem with First Class Honours.  During her undergraduate degree, Alison conducted biotechnology work placements at the University of Manchester and the University of Oulu, Finland.  She then moved to the University of Edinburgh, where she explored novel palladium and iron-catalysed reactions as part of her PhD.
