Career

As a chemist with over 15 years of experience in the profession, Mark has worked with inventions in a wide variety of fields, in particular:

- Industrial chemistry: commercial-scale chemical synthesis, nanotechnology, waste management - Consumer products: contact lenses, absorbent articles, skincare compositions - Pharmaceuticals: NCEs, polymorphs, dosage forms, second medical uses - Medical devices: surgical instruments and implants, blood glucose analytic systems

Each has its own challenges, resulting from the way in which their patent applications need to be drafted (and the resultant approaches taken by the patent offices in examination) and from their different commercial environments. Client-focussed, Mark uses his extensive experience, both in obtaining and defending his client’s rights and in removing those of their competitors, to help them achieve their goals as efficiently as possible.

Mark is a regular visitor to examination, opposition and appeal hearings at the European Patent Office in Munich and The Hague, as well as conferences and clients in the US.
