Career

Greg thrives on resolving contentious issues often faced by his clients: be it dealing with patent infringement threats, litigation, or acting before the European Patent Office in examination and post grant oral proceedings. Greg was recently trusted by a London-based client to handle the validity assessment of a patent asserted against them in the UK courts. His work on validity led to a substantial reduction in the settlement offer.

Having spent time on secondment working alongside a leading in-house IP team in San Francisco, Greg has developed a keen understanding of the commercial IP issues faced by in-house patent counsel.  Greg has also provided training sessions on European patent law for US in-house counsel, particularly in the area of patent-eligible subject matter at the EPO. He has also represented Kilburn & Strode extensively in the US having recently spent time working from the firm’s San Francisco office as well visiting clients and contacts in Texas and presenting to the Oklahoma Bar Association on European patent law.

Greg has significant experience working with start-ups, SMEs and larger high-growth companies providing commercial advice and developing comprehensive IP strategies. He recently helped guide a UK-based client through a significant round of investment, directly dealing with investors to help demonstrate the value of the client’s IP. Greg has also worked extensively with multinational FinTech, software, aerospace and oil and gas companies handling their patent prosecution matters in Europe and around the world.

Greg’s background is in physics and his master’s project focussed on the use of gamma rays in cargo container scanning equipment.  His professional experience has also covered inkjet printing technology and working with clients in the MedTech sector.
