Position

Tim is a Senior Associate in the Patents department, a Chartered Patent Attorney and a European Patent Attorney.

Career

Tim joined Maucher Jenkins in 2012 and qualified as both a UK Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney in 2016. Tim worked in Maucher Jenkins' Munich office for a year in 2016 to 2017 where he developed his German language skills and his networks with European attorneys.

Tim’s work covers a wide range of technology areas including telecommunications, semiconductors, electronics, artificial intelligence and computer software. Tim excels in prosecuting technically or legally complex patent applications, wringing out allowable claims when grant appears impossible. Tim in particular has a wealth of experience with, and in-depth knowledge of, LTE, 5G and IEEE 802.11 families of standards. So much so that Tim is frequently able not only to achieve grant of applications in esoteric subfields of telecommunications, but to do so while maintaining a standard mapping for those applications. Such skills are invaluable to clients seeking to bolster their lucrative standard essential patent (SEP) portfolios.

Tim’s has a strong track record in representing clients before the European Patent Office in oral proceedings before examining divisions, opposition divisions and boards of appeal, and relishes the challenges of oral advocacy. He is also experienced in drafting patent applications, searching, and helping manage the IP portfolios of various clients.

Tim was ranked by Managing Intellectual Property as a Rising Star for 2022.
