Position

Rosa Thomas joined 3PB in April 2023, to undertake a specialist, Employment and Education 12-month pupillage. A history and politics graduate from Oxford University and awarded several scholarships and prizes for her academic results, Rosa was a World Schools' Debating Champion. She won the HRLA Judicial Review Moot (entered by over 90 teams) and was a European Universities Debating Championship Finalist (entered by 194 teams) as well as an International Refugee and Migration Law Moot Finalist. She was a debating coach at two schools, in London and Oxford.

Rosa was a volunteer caseworker with Amicus, compiling chronologies and summaries of documents for the legal team and contributing to the mitigation theory documents for multiple death row cases. She has also been a volunteer researcher at the City Environmental Law Policy Clinic and the Environmental Law Foundation, analysing and summarising local plans and supplementary planning documents to assess the implementation of climate emergency action plans. She also drafted Environmental Information Requests (EIRs) to local councils and analysed proofs of evidence for a barrister in preparation for a public inquiry opposing the deregistration of a village green.

Before coming to the Bar, Rosa worked in the public affairs team at Age UK and was responsible for drafting and updating parliamentary briefings and parliamentary questions on Age UK’s key policy positions such as pension policy, social care, and fuel poverty.

Rosa has been a volunteer representative with the Schools Exclusion Project and represented parents at Governors’ Disciplinary Committees and Independent Review Panels to seek the reinstatement of excluded students.
