(Leading Juniors)Ranked: Tier 3Warwick Tatford – Foundry Chambers ‘Warwick’s understated advocacy is always extremely effective; he gently makes the case seem overwhelming. He has a very good manner with juries in closing speeches.’
In recent years Foundry Chambers has grown into ‘a superb set with quality barristers of all years of call‘. Alexandra Healy KC recently prosecuted 80-year-old John Apelgren, alleged to have strangled a sex worker to death in June 1974, with the case reopened after DNA samples were acquired from Apelgren following his arrest for assaulting his wife in 2019 – he was found guilty of manslaughter and indecent assault. Neil Griffin’s varied practice covers drugs, homicide, and sexual offences cases – he recently defended one of the individuals charged alongside Marius Gustavson, the self-styled “eunuch maker”. Warwick Tatford has been particularly active of late in sexual offences cases, especially on the prosecution side. He prosecuted in a trial concerning the assault, robbery, and rape of a teenager in a Greenwich bike shed, with the defendant ultimately convicted and sentenced to 18 years in prison.
