Career

Daisy accepts instructions in all manner of criminal matters, regulatory matters and criminal-adjacent work. She has a busy practice in the Crown Court but accepts private and certificate for counsel instructions in the magistrates’ and Youth court. Daisy has experience in the Court of Appeal having successfully challenged a sentence imposed on a young Defendant on the grounds that it was manifestly excessive.

She is a CPS Grade 2 advocate as well as regularly acting as Defence Counsel and Junior Defence Counsel in complex money laundering cases, drug offences and serious violence offences.

Current trial instructions in the Crown Court include junior prosecution counsel in a conspiracy to import cocaine trial, conspiracy to transfer criminal property and serious violence offences. Daisy recently assisted in the private prosecution of a £75 million fraud, as well as the prosecution of a conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

She is experienced in dealing with cases involving vulnerable youths and defendants with complex medical conditions. A recent case involved the cross-examination of 7 and 9 year old child witnesses, leading to the Defendant being acquitted of 6 out of 8 charges brought.

Aside from general crime, Daisy has appeared in the First-Tier Tribunal (Tax) representing the Director of Border Revenue in a challenge to a decision of non-restoration of goods, as well as accepting instructions in review work for Ofqual and drafting of representations challenging a “Minded to Bar” letter received by a teacher accused of criminal offences by the Disclosure and Barring Service. She accepts instructions from Local Authorities in criminal work.

Prior to commencing pupillage, Daisy worked as a paralegal at a criminal defence firm. She assisted a senior solicitor in the Crown Court department on a wide variety of cases including murder, fraud, drug offences, sexual offences and cases where the defence of modern slavery was raised. This gave her a valuable insight into preparing a case from the police investigation stage to appearances in court.
