Career
Elin joined Chambers following the successful completion of her pupillage in October 2019. Elin accepts instructions in all of Chambers’ practice areas including public law proceedings, private law children proceedings and financial remedy proceedings. Elin has developed a busy practice and has acted on a number of complex cases. Elin has appeared at all levels of the family courts up to and including the High Court. Elin was ranked as ‘Rising Star’ in the Legal 500 directory 2024.
Prior to pupillage, Elin worked as a research assistant at the Law Commission of England and Wales and then as a family paralegal at a firm ranked No.1 in both The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners. Whilst a paralegal, Elin gained valuable experience in matters relating to complex financial remedies and child arrangements including assisting on a case before the Supreme Court.
Private Children Law
Elin is instructed in all areas of private children disputes including disputes that involve applications for Child Arrangements Orders, Prohibited Steps Orders and Specific Issues Orders. She has experience of representing parents in contact disputes where there are allegations of domestic abuse that include domestic violence and coercive and controlling behaviour and has been instructed in a number of Fact-Finding Hearings.
Public Children Law
Elin has experience of representing local authorities, parents and guardians in care proceedings. Elin has experience of complex care work and has been junior counsel in several cases that involve allegations of non-accidental injury, sexual abuse, serious physical chastisement and forced marriage. Elin also has experience of representing vulnerable clients, including parents with learning difficulties.
Elin has assisted in training expert witnesses at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
Finance Proceedings
Elin acts in matters relating to matrimonial finance and applications under Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989. Before joining Chambers, Elin worked at Stewarts as a paralegal and this provided her with excellent experience dealing with complex financial matters.
