Career

James has worked in the field of family law since 2008, first in a legal aid law firm and then at the bar, specialising in children law.

In care proceedings, James represents local authorities, parents, other family members, interveners and children’s guardians. He has particular experience in cases involving non-accidental injuries, sexual abuse, and cases involving placement outside the jurisdiction. James’s experience includes applications for secure accommodation orders or for court authorisations for a deprivation of a child’s liberty.

James appears in private cases involving child arrangement orders, including enforcement and committal proceedings and contested relocation cases.

He has the experience and is looking to expand his practice in the Court of Protection.

James has provided seminars and advocacy training sessions for solicitors.
