Position

Dermot represents all parties in public law and judicial review proceedings and in disputes between local authorities.  Dermot has been involved in cases at all levels of court, including the European Court of Human Rights.

Dermot provides training to solicitors and local authorities on adoption, fostering, human rights, disputes between local authorities, accommodation under S 20 CA 1989 and other areas of law and practice on request.

Career

Dermot was called to the Bar in 1994. Dermot worked as a mental health and child protection social worker before he was called to the Bar.   He has an MSc from the London School of Economics in Social Work. The experience of working as social worker is very pertinent to public law and judicial review proceedings.
