Stephen wood is a highly experienced and sought after advocate. He is Grade 4, RaSSO approved and a member of CPS serious crime panel. He is the only member of the bar on Circuit authorised to prosecute “Operation Recall” cases where prosecutions are brought following a ‘cold-case’ review. Stephen has a reputation for detailed preparation of his cases and exceptional advocacy. He is noted to be an especially effective cross-examiner. Judges on the NE Circuit recommended that the CPS approach Stephen to train in-house advocates on advocacy techniques. Stephen frequently acts in cases of murder, manslaughter, firearms, gang crime and major drug offences and is instructed in high profile cases. Stephen recently prosecuted the former frontman of the rock group Lostprophets for offences committed in prison. Stephen is also regularly asked by TV production companies to bring his expertise to bear in ensuring realism in television programmes involving court scenes. He worked on the acclaimed Channel 4 series "National Treasure" starring Robbie Coltrane and Julie Walters.
