Career

Called to the bar in 1988, practised at Doughty Street Chambers in London until a move to Manchester in 2000, where she became a tenant at Peel Court Chambers and then Byrom Street Chambers from 2008.

Appointed Silk in 2013.

Became a Recorder of the Crown Court in 2004, and of the County Court in 2015, Assistant Coroner for Manchester Central in 2008.

She lectures regularly on issues relating to clinical negligence, particularly on liability trials.

She is trained as an arbitrator with the PiCARBS scheme.

PIBA, PNBA, INQUEST Lawyers' Group, Human Rights Lawyers Association.

Position

Specialist in medical law, principally in clinical negligence in cases involving injuries of maximum severity, such as birth injury, spinal or cauda equina injury, or other clinical conditions of great complexity or life-changing outcome.

Also has a personal injury practice, again particularly involving catastrophic injury or complex medical issues of causation.

Portsmouth High School; Lincoln College, Oxford (1986, BA Hons, Jurisprudence First Class).
