Career

Called 1991; Middle Temple; advocate in practice at the Scottish Bar 1995; QC (Scotland) 2002; previously a lecturer in law at Cambridge University (Queen’s College) and a professor of law at Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London. Contributing editor: ‘Harvey on Industrial Relations and Employment Law’ (Butterworths) and ‘Transfer of Undertakings’ (Sweet & Maxwell). Founding contributor ‘Butterworths’ Employment Law: Practice, Procedure and Precedents’ (5th ed 2007); ppointed by States of Jersey to conduct inquiry into the dismissal of a senior police officer (2010); prior to taking up full-time work at the Bar, acted as expert appointed by the International Labour Office and produced reports on employment law in Tanzania, Uganda and Bangladesh.
