Position

Eliza had a specialist family pupilage with Julia Cheetham and Peter Rothery and thereafter has gone on to practice in all areas of family law as well as developing a busy practice in the Court of Protection and other areas involving vulnerable adults, such as Community Care Law and Mental Health Law. In family law Eliza acts for Local Authorities, children and parents at all stages of care proceedings and private law proceedings in cases across the North West involving serious domestic violence, sexual abuse, non-accidental injury and neglect. Eliza also practices in financial matters and has dealt with complex cases involving international jurisdiction and the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002. Eliza has also built up a flourishing Court of Protection practice and deals with both welfare applications and property and affairs. Eliza regularly deals with complex cases in the Court of Protection, including those involving catastrophic brain injury, DOLS, breach of ECHR rights, and where there is an overlap with Judicial Review. Eliza also represents both Local Authorities and patients in Mental Health Review Tribunals as well as advising and appearing in the High Court in relation to Judicial Review arising out of breach of community care legislation.
