Richard specialises in most areas of family law including Care Proceedings, Children Act 1989, Financial Remedies and Domestic Violence.

Richard regularly acts for the parents and guardians in child care proceedings. Cases often involve serious injury and neglect and the cross-examination of experts as well as mental health problems.

Richard has a wealth of experience in representing parents/grandparents in private law proceedings, which include intractable contact disputes and applications to remove children from the jurisdiction. Recently he has dealt with how the UK can retain jurisdiction in an international context.

Richard has has co-authored with Gillian Geddes “The Single Family Court: A Practitioner’s Handbook (pub. Wildy, Simmonds & Hill Publishing, 2016).

He is a co-editor of ‘Emergency Remedies in the Family Courts’ and he is the editor of ‘Information Technology Law Reports’.

Matrimonial Finance cases often concern assets outside the jurisdiction with the consequential issues of enforcement.
