Position
Aaron practices in police and public law (particularly in matters concerning national security), data protection and information law, inquests and inquiries.
He is currently instructed in several high profile cases including the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry, the Undercover Policing Inquiry and judicial review proceedings brought by the Duke of Sussex. He recently acted as junior Counsel to the Jermaine Baker Inquiry, the Manchester Arena Inquiry, the London Bridge Inquests, the Fishmongers’ Hall Inquests, and the Inquest following the Streatham Terror Attack.
Aaron is an editor of 5 Essex Chambers' monthly Data Protection and Information Law Bulletin, The Data Brief. He has a busy practice in data protection and information law, advising and acting for multinational corporations, journalists, individuals, police forces, central Government and local authorities.
He accepts Direct Public Access instructions.
Career
Aaron was called to the Bar in 2013 and has always practised at 5 Essex Chambers. He was appointed to the Attorney General’s B Panel of Counsel in September 2023, after four years on the C Panel.
Before joining 5 Essex Chambers, Aaron served as a Special Constable in the Metropolitan Police Service from 2009 to 2014, spending the last 18 months leading a team as a Special Sergeant in Westminster. He has a first-hand understanding of operational policing, both as a constable and as a line manager, which gives him a good insight into the legal and practical problems confronting public servants.
