Position
Amie was called to the Bar in 2019 and became a tenant of Exchange Chambers in September 2021 following the successful completion of her pupillage under the supervision of Andrew Vinson and James Malam.
Amie has a broad commercial and chancery practice that includes commercial litigation, insolvency, equestrian law, property and trusts. Across those areas, Amie regularly appears in the county and high courts for interlocutory hearings and trials and has a busy paper practice drafting statements of case and advice.
Amie advises clients in conference as well as in writing and has experience in dealing with cases from the outset through to conclusion, providing tactical advice and guidance throughout the course of proceedings. Amie has also represented clients at mediation.
Amie has been led in several cases, including an adjudication concerning a high-value construction dispute, a claim valued at c£2million relating to a personal guarantee agreement and was recently led by Giles Maynard-Connor KC in a multi-million pound shareholder dispute involving a counterclaim and a separate Part 20 claim against the Fourth Party that included allegations of deceit and fraudulent misrepresentation. Amie’s led work has allowed her to gain considerable experience in respect of case strategy and advocacy.
Amie’s recent work includes:
Advising on procedural matters concerning bulk without-notice applications to set aside and vary more than 600 judgments; Successfully representing the claimant purchaser in a multi-day trial relating to the sale of a horse concerning issues of breach of contract, misrepresentation, negligence, and agency; Successfully defending a claim at trial relating to the validity of a personal guarantee agreement with a value of c£220,000; A professional negligence claim involving an accountant acting as executor of a deceased’s estate for damages of c£1,000,000; Successfully applying for an order pursuant to section 263(4) of the Insolvency Act 1986 in respect of the validity of more than 49 IVAs in circumstances where the supervisor lacked authorisation.Outside of her practice, Amie is regularly involved in the training provided by the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn for students and is an interviewer for the Inn’s GDL and BPC major scholarship awards.
