Position

Sian specialises in extradition and international law, and maintains an established practice in all areas of criminal law, regulatory law, and professional discipline.

Career

Sian routinely defends in a wide variety of extradition matters, from first appearance in the Magistrates Court through to appeal in the High Court. She often acts in cases where certificates for counsel are granted owing to the gravity and complexity of the issues and assists as junior counsel in matters well above her call.

Sian has a growing practice in matters involving international law, including making applications to remove INTERPOL Red Notices. She routinely assists Ben Keith on complex international, immigration and public law matters. Most recently, Sian has assisted in a high profile torture case before the African Court of Human Rights and advised on a the high profile extradition matter between the USA and Bahamas.

Sian routinely appears before professional discipline tribunals and the High Court on cases for the NMC, RCN,  HCPC and SWE.  Sian has received praise from High Court Judges for her thorough Skeleton Arguments.

Following a lengthy secondment with Blake Morgan LLP, preparing cases for the NMC and HCPC, Sian has gained considerable experience in managing a regulatory caseload. Sian’s caseload ranges from minor misconduct and competency matters, to allegations of serious sexual assault.

Personal

Before joining Chambers as a third six pupil, Sian completed pupillage at a leading London Criminal set, specialising in criminal defence work. Prior to this she worked for three years at a leading criminal defence firm, and so brings with her an expertise in defence work.

Sian has spent time volunteering for a number of legal charities including Liberty, Fair Trials and Reprieve. She also spent time working on death row cases at the Louisiana Capital Assistance Centre in New Orleans.
