Position

Lucy Plumpton enjoys a busy practice across the spectrum of Chambers’ work, with particular expertise in civil law.

Career

Called 2013, Middle Temple.

Prior to joining Chambers, Lucy worked in the pharmaceutical industry for three years, before converting to law. She then spent a year working in the legal and human rights sectors of the Philippines. During this time she drafted communications for submission to United Nations Treaty Bodies (CEDAW and HRC), and assisted with a national prosecution stemming from the largest ever single-attack on journalists – the 2009 massacre of 58 members of the press in Maguindanao province in the Philippines.

She holds an LLM in Human Rights (Distinction) from the University of Nottingham and completed the BPTC (Very Competent) at Kaplan Law School, assisted by a Middle Temple Scholarship.

Prior to pupillage she worked for a senior civil barrister for a year, gaining experience in personal injury, costs, landlord and tenant, insurance and commercial law. She researched and helped update the existing content, as well as drafting a new chapter on the Court of Protection, for the practitioner text Expert Evidence: Law and Practice (4th edition).

Lucy won Middle Temple’s Rosamund Smith Mooting Competition in 2013 as presided over by Lord Judge. She also won the Ede and Ravenscroft Prize for the best mooter in the final.
