Martin Blount has an in depth experience in children matters, from contact and residence to removal of a child from the jurisdiction. In public law proceedings, Martin acts for Local Authorities, parents and grandparents, children and Guardians. He is regularly instructed and advises on a range of cases including applications to place children in the care of Local Authorities, applications for contact to a child in care or to revoke pre-existing care orders, foreign and domestic adoptions, cases under the Inherent Jurisdiction including those involving ‘the right to life’ or medical treatment for children, private law disputes where local authorities have been joined as parties and applications for Judicial Review.

Martin is also an experienced matrimonial practitioner. He specialises primarily in financial settlement (ancillary relief) cases, involving company trusts and pensions, which also include Schedule 1 Children Act cases and Trust of Land claims.

Martin regularly gives seminars on various aspects of family law as well as in-house training.

To relax when away from Chambers, Martin is a keen skier and snowboarder. He also loves to play a challenging game of chess, playing tennis as well as coaching triathletes.
