Most of Richard’s work across those practice areas is in the Healthcare and Social Care sectors.
Richard has extensive experience of:
- Inquests, particularly concerning medical/surgical treatment, psychiatric treatment, social care, deprivation of liberty, and multi-agency deaths.
- The full range of clinical negligence cases, especially delayed diagnosis of cancer, and cases raising issue of consent and capacity.
- Litigation around psychiatric treatment (inquests and negligence claims), in particular regarding risk assessment, ground leave, s.17 leave, etc.
- Court of protection (Health and Welfare) cases, including medical treatment, Deprivation of Liberty and a range of s.16 applications.
- Inherent Jurisdiction applications in relation to vulnerable children and adults.
- Deprivation of liberty of children and young adults, often advising hospital trusts in relation to IJ/family proceedings.
- Secondary victim claims.
- Claims against local authorities in relation to social care, failure to remove, breach of ECHR, etc.
