Profile

Throughout her time practicing in Hong Kong, Mina developed an interest in Public Law and has gained extensive advisory and advocacy experience in all aspects of Constitutional & Administrative law, Human Rights issues as well as Judicial Reviews. As a native Cantonese and Mandarin speaker, Mina joins other members of Chambers as being an important figure in the Hong Kong legal sector. Mina’s multilingual skills have presented opportunities for her to assist solicitors in London as an overseas lawyer in international cases. Utilising her trilingualism, Mina regularly represents Chinese speaking clients in commercial disputes in the jurisdiction of England & Wales.

Practice

As a public access barrister, Mina undertakes work in all areas of commercial law. Recent work includes securing a highly favourable settlement for a client looking to sue a well known company for misrepresentation and breach of contract, securing a settlement for a client in a case relating to tax evasion overseas, representing a defendant in a copyright claim brought by a large entertainment company, both seeking and defending High Court freezing injunctions, TOLATA issues and an injunction in a family property matter, a company dispute regarding a new homeware invention and successfully seeking an injunction order against disruptive tenants in a housing matter.

Aviation

An aviation expert, Mina accepts instructions from airlines in the areas of flight delay, COVID voucher disputes, baggage claims, personal injury in an aviation context and insurance claims. Mina often secures costs awards against both claimants and claimant’s representatives in aviation matters where claims were continued frivolously. Mina accepts court and paperwork from solicitors and airlines alike in the following areas: Carriage by air disputes involving EU regulations, Warsaw and Montreal Conventions and associated passenger, cargo, baggage and delay claims. Denied boarding claims. Negligence claims, including personal injury, in aviation and employment contexts. International carriage by road and sea claims, including under Convention on the Contracts for the International Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR). Insurance claims, including in relation to vessels and vehicles. Package Holiday Regulation claims and Athens Convention claims.

With her international background, Mina also has experience in conflicts of law and jurisdictional disputes. Mina undertakes pleading and advisory work and represents clients in all types of commercial cases including high-value complex multi-party litigation with an international dimension. Mina can draft, amend or advise on all manner of contracts and legally binding agreements.

Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence

Mina accepts instructions in all areas of personal injury. Mina regularly represents the NHS in multi-track cases in personal injury and clinical negligence. She is frequently instructed to advise on liability, evidence and quantum in a range of cases. She has experience of interim hearings, CCMCs (including budgeting) and multi-day trials.

Mina has experience in both public and private housing matters and has expertise in TOLATA.
