Career

Practice Alex joined Whitestone in 2017 and is an associate member. His practice covers a wide range of work, within the following areas:

Election law, Commercial property, Prison law.

Alex has frequently been instructed by leading law firms and has experience of appearing in county courts, tribunals inside and outside of London, and the Court of Appeal.

Recently, Alex organised the visits of two United States Supreme Court Justices to the UK.

Alex is the Managing Director and Head of Public Affairs at F.T.I. Consulting, an international advisory firm. The organisation is at the forefront of reputation management and has a global footprint. Alex is also the founding Director of Big Brother Watch, which exposes and monitors breaches of individual privacy and civil liberties. He is a regular political commentator with Sky news and BBC Dateline London.

Alex has run for and successfully been elected Common Councilman in the City of London Corporation, and was previously Chief of Staff to both David Cameron and Tim Collins during their respective periods as Shadow Secretaries of State for Education.

In 2016, Alex served as Executive Director of the Grassroots Out Movement, which represented nine campaign groups which sought a ‘Leave’ vote in the E.U. Referendum. He was also a member of the Square Mile of London’s main decision-making body, the Policy and Resources Committee.

Reported cases

Finch and Another v Richardson [2008] EWHC 3067 (QB); [2008] WLR (D) 389: The claimants were granted relief from the consequences of certain election expenses being incurred in excess of the limit provided for by the Representation of the People (Variation of Limits of Candidates Election Expenses) (City of London) Order 2005.
