Position

Patrick is a specialist in Insurance, Personal Injury and International/Travel law. He acts for Claimants and Defendants in complex catastrophic personal injury claims, insurance and policy construction disputes and cross jurisdictional litigation.

Appearances in the Supreme Court in Cameron v Liverpool Victoria Insurance Co Ltd [2019] UKSC 6 and R & S Pilling v(T/A Phoenix Engineering} v UK Insurance Ltd [2019] UKSC 16. Acting for the dependents of a victim of a fatal aircraft accident in Switzerland. Acting for the Defendant insurer in Greenaway & Rocks v Covea in which the court considered for the first time how the English courts were to tackle issues which, pre-Brexit, would have been referred to the CJEU for a preliminary ruling. Advising and acting more than 20 catastrophic brain injury claims worth in excess of £5m within the last year. Appearing in the important motor policy construction case of Daudher v Hoisani, EUI Ltd & Advantage Insurance Co Ltd [2020] WLUK 549. Advising on Covid Business Interruption claims. Instructed in complex personal injury claims occurring in Hungary, Romania, Bermuda, Bulgaria, France, Spain and Poland.

Patrick has a particular interest in aviation/maritime claims and holds a private pilot’s licence.
