Position

Philippa regularly represents a range of Local Authorities and parents in public law children proceedings, in front of both Circuit and District Judges. Philippa acts for clients at various stages of proceedings ranging from; emergency protection orders, contested interim care orders and issues resolution hearings through to fully contested multi-day final hearings, including cases with an international element and contested expert evidence.  Philippa has also acted in Wardship proceedings in the High Court.

Philippa often appears in various private law and Family Law Act proceedings, in without notice and with notice hearings, case management, fact finding and contested final hearings, including non-molestation, child arrangement and prohibited steps orders.  She has advised and represented clients during financial settlement proceedings. She has also has successfully acted for clients with mental health problems and appeared in cases with a range of issues; including mental health, neglect and emotional, physical, financial and sexual abuse. Moreover, Philippa has a client focussed approach, ensuring that clients feel they are being listened to and their views are being accurately represented. She has the ability to put clients from all walks of life quickly at ease with a calm but firm approach.

Career

Year of Call 2015

Prior to commencing practice at the Bar, Philippa worked in a solicitor’s firm as an advocate, regularly representing clients in private family law and at parole board hearings.  She advised in all areas of family law and assisted clients with judicial review proceedings. She volunteered at the Citizens Advice Bureau throughout her later school years, whilst completing her degree.
