Tim Koch

Position

Tim has experience across all of Chambers’ core practice areas, including in commercial disputes, civil fraud, company, insolvency, art and cultural property, offshore, and trust litigation. He welcomes instructions in all of Chambers’ specialisms as sole counsel or as part of a counsel team.

Career

Prior to coming to the Bar, Tim worked as a Research Assistant by the Law Commission of England and Wales, where he contributed to the Digital Assets Project. He has a particular interest in crypto-asset related disputes, and assisted (as a pupil) on the successful appeal in Tulip Trading Ltd v Van der Laan [2023] EWCA Civ 83, concerning the application of fiduciary concepts to the novel context of crypto-assets. Tim has also previously worked as a paralegal in the Insolvency and Restructuring Team at a leading US Law Firm.

Tim is a native German speaker.

Education

Tim completed undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in law at the University of Oxford, graduating with a Distinction from the BCL in 2020. During his time at university, Tim received various academic scholarships and awards, including the BCL Corporate Insolvency Law Prize. Tim subsequently supervised tutorials in tort law as a Stipendiary Lecturer at New College, Oxford.
