Career

Oliver practices in every area of employment law and appears regularly in the employment tribunal, the High Court and the appellate courts acting on behalf of both employers and employees – particularly complex whistleblowing, TUPE and discrimination claims.

Oliver is regularly instructed in civil claims including permanent health insurance, settlement agreements, non-disclosure agreements and restrictive covenants. Oliver is regularly instructed to advise directors, minority shareholders, partners and members of LLP’s.

Oliver’s experience encompasses a wide range of sectors but he has particular expertise in acting for those regulated by the FCA, the music industry and educational establishments including private schools, higher and further education colleges and universities and the NHS.

Recent cases have included L v M (LLP Dispute and Whistleblowing claim involving LLP Member and Pension Trust) Griffiths v COPOM (defending a claim of indirect discrimination arising out of the way allegations of sexual assault are addressed within the police), Akram v East Lancashire NHS Trust (Holiday Pay entitlement for the NHS), X v Y (Liability of employer for actions of shadow directors), A v B (Entitlement to Long Term Disability Benefits and Disability Discrimination)
