Karen McLaughlin has been practising family law for over 25 years, specialising in children’s work for the majority of her career. Karen practised in London before moving to Sussex in 2008, and has an extensive London Local Authority practice, as well as acting for parents, children and children’s Guardians.

Children (Public Law)

Karen has considerable experience of cases which involve allegations of abuse of children, non-accidental injury and sexual abuse, often where the allegations are the subject of criminal investigation, and cases where there is conflicting expert opinion. She is regularly instructed by a number of Local Authorities and also represents parents/ relatives and children.

Karen is experienced in representing parents, grandparents, children, interveners and guardians, thus has a rounded understanding of the issues and concerns of all parties in private law proceedings.

Karen has particular expertise representing clients with regard to parental alienation, intractable contact disputes, domestic and international relocation or where findings of fact are sought.
