Terry regularly gives accredited seminars for Criminal Solicitors, most recently on duress and necessity, and the sentencing of dangerous offenders.

Career

Terry has established a first class reputation as a defence advocate, his criminal practice encompasses the Crown Court, The High court and the Court of Appeal. Areas of practice include serious sexual offences, fraud, drug trafficking and serious violent offences. He is frequently instructed to defend in POCA confiscations.

Terry successfully represented a member of the armed forces in a Court Martial on charges relating to a bomb threat. This is an area in which Terry is keen to do more work, in both the UK and abroad.

Terry also specialises in Prison Law and has done for a number of years, particularly using Judicial Review to obtain the best results for his clients. His work centres mainly on parole for indeterminate prisoners and re-categorisation. Another busy area for him is appeals against both conviction and sentence, particularly indeterminate sentences.
