Sarah Fahy is a Barrister specialising in Public Law Children and Private Law Children.  In 2019 Sarah was appointed as a Deputy District Judge.

Position

Sarah is a specialist family law practitioner with a diverse public and private law practice.

She regularly appears at all stages of both public and private law proceedings at all levels within the Family Court. Sarah’s tutelage in family law was under Jeremy Weston KC and as a result, Sarah has a passion for representing particularly vulnerable parties within proceedings.  Sarah is also known for her ability to relate to her clients whilst always getting swiftly to the crux of the issue in any case.

In private law matters, Sarah regularly deals with the full spectrum of applications and issues which arise at all stages of proceedings. She has considerable experience in cases involving internal and external relocation issues, domestic violence, changes of surname, parental alienation, committal proceedings and particularly vulnerable clients.  She has considerable expertise in cases which have a protracted history or have reached a stalemate where finding a new approach is crucial. Sarah also is known for her clarity of thought and her confidence in her approach to each case.

Sarah is able to provide written advice on all areas of family law and has a particular interest in matters relating to the duties of a local authority to pay monies to carers of children in various circumstances.

In public law cases, Sarah regularly represents local authorities, parents, grandparents and children in multi-day, contested hearings. She has considerable experience in all stages of public law proceedings and applications under the ACA 2002 including applications for leave to oppose adoption, post adoption contact and contact with children in care. Sarah’s experience includes, but is not limited to non-accidental injury fact finding hearings, sexual abuse, psychiatric illness, children with mental health concerns, foreign elements and serious domestic violence.
