Janice has practised exclusively at the Family Bar in all aspects of children work undertaking complex cases in both the public law and private law arenas.  Janice is noted for her comprehensive case preparation, robust and sensible advice, down to earth approach and bold and challenging advocacy. She is happy to provide advice and assistance both prior to and post the issue of proceedings.  Janice acts for parents/interveners/extended family members, local authorities, children and the Official Solicitor. She is also instructed by local authorities in public interest immunity applications.

Janice has a particular interest in working with vulnerable clients, including those with significant learning difficulties, mental health and capacity issues and degenerative brain disorders. She has a compassionate and sensitive approach to her clients and to this end has undertaken significant training in listening and the sharing of information appropriately attuned to the needs and understanding of the client.

Janice has wide ranging experience in cases involving serious non-accidental injury, complex medical evidence, neglect, emotional abuse and sexual assault.

In private law proceedings Janice has been involved in several complex cases including fact finding cases involving allegations of physical and sexual abuse. She also represents Rule 16.4 Guardians.

Janice has appeared before tribunals at all levels including the Court of Appeal (Family Division).
