Career
Beverley has a budding diverse general criminal law practice with experience both defending and prosecuting. Her instructions cover a wide range of offences including violent offences, sexual offences, dishonesty matters, weapons, drugs and public order offences. Beverley has successfully appeared in appeals against convictions and sentences both prosecuting and defending. She additionally has experience in dealing with matters of a civil nature that include Criminal Behavior Orders.
Beverley regularly appears in the Crown Court, Magistrates' Court and Youth Court. She also has experience representing clients in Extradition matters, Inquests, Fare Evasions Interviews and Domestic Violence Protection Orders.
Before joining 3 Temple Gardens, Beverley worked in the Judicial Review Team at the Government Legal Department which dealt with immigration matters. Beverley has gained experience in both areas and would be keen to accept instructions.
Beverley has a particular interest in working with vulnerable clients such as (but not limited to) persons suffering from mental health issues and the youth. She has successfully appeared in matters involving such clients. Her ability to simplify legal advice, identifying clients' needs and how to assist them through the process has proven very helpful.
NOTEABLE CASES:R v VKS - led junior in a 4 months tit-tat gang shooting trial.
R v F - Victimless trial whereby the Crown sought to rely on a 999 tape as res gestae. A successful argument to exclude the evidence under section 78 PACE resulted in the Crown being forced to offer no evidence.
R v G - Successfully made submissions in mitigation that the client who suffered from mental health issues and had an extensive list of relevant previous offences should not be sent to custody but instead be offered support and help in the community.
R v J - Successfully argued the Crown had not proven the complainant had not given consent in a sexual assault allegation.
Croydon Youth Court - successfully defended a young person accused of being in possession of a ‘Rambo style' knife.

Beverley regularly volunteers with youth clubs and at Middlesex University working with students from non-traditional and BAME backgrounds wishing to access the bar.
Beverley is also currently studying to cross-qualify and to be called to the Bar in Zimbabwe where she has also previously volunteered and worked.
