Miss Menary is regularly instructed on behalf of the Prosecution and Defence both as a Led Junior and a Junior alone to conduct complex and lengthy trials across the full spectrum of criminal work. She is comfortable grappling with complex points of law and issues of disclosure.

Miss Menary has experience conducting cases involving vulnerable witnesses and consequently the s.28 procedure, fitness to plead hearings, and expert evidence. Miss Menary regularly conducts POCA proceedings at all stages.

She is regularly instructed in cases involving the following:

Operation Perth (2023)

Led by Paul Greaney KC. Second Junior for the Prosecution in a high-profile murder trial attracting significant media attention.

Operation Superior (2023)

Led by Alex Langhorn. Prosecution of over 30 defendants charged with various levels of involvement in running a number of “deal” lines in the Preston area.

Operation Daisy (2023)

Led by Will Beardmore Prosecution of over 20 defendants in a Conspiracy to Supply Class A and B drugs in the Lancashire area involving EncroChat material.

Operation Thunder (2022)

Led by Kim Obrusik. Prosecution of over 25 defendants charged with Conspiracy to supply Class A and B drugs in the Lancashire area.

Operation Zodiac (2021)

Led by Alex Langhorn. Prosecution of over 20 defendants charged with various levels of involvement in running a number of “deal” lines in the Preston area.

R v T (2021)

Prosecution of a defendant charged with production of approximately £500k of Class B involving a number of complex legal arguments.

Family

Public Law

Miss Menary frequently acts for the Local Authority, parents and guardians in public law proceedings. She has experience of complex cases involving sexual abuse, physical abuse, non-accidental injury and neglect. Miss Menary has experience in Deprivation of Liberty Applications under the Court’s Inherent Jurisdiction.

Private Law

Miss Menary also regularly represents parents in private law proceedings, including applications for child arrangement orders, prohibited steps orders, non-molestation orders occupation orders.

Recent cases:

Re L (2023)

Acting on behalf of a parent facing allegations of sexual abuse against a child. Following a lengthy final hearing, the parent was wholly exonerated.

Re M (2022)

Acting on behalf of the Local Authority. Findings of parental alienation were made against a parent following a lengthy finding of fact hearing.

Re K (2020)

Led Junior for the Local Authority involving allegations of non-accidental injury to a child and the cross examination of multiple medical experts.

M v A (2022)

Acting on behalf of the respondent. Numerous allegations had been made by the applicant including serious criminal allegations. Following a finding of fact hearing, no findings were made against the respondent and findings of parental alienation were made against the applicant.

Re H (2021)

Acting on behalf of a parent. Finding of fact in which the parent avoided findings of failure to protect in the context of non-accidental injury to the child.
