Background

Emily is a Criminal Practitioner. She was called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of Middle Temple in November 2018. She joined chambers in October 2023 after successfully completing a criminal pupillage under the supervision of Louise McCloskey. Prior to obtaining pupillage she was a county court advocate on behalf of Quest Advocates and also did independent work for law firms. She undertook hundreds of different hearings including trials enhancing her advocacy skills and allowing her to work with a broad cross-section of society.

Areas of Practice

Emily is a level 2 CPS panel advocate and has been instructed as trial counsel on matters relating to domestic abuse, violence and drug supply.

She undertakes both prosecution and defence work in the Crown Court including sentences and case management hearings covering a range of different offences from sexual to dishonesty offences. Emily also appears in the Magistrates and Youth court.

Emily has represented the Probation service and Defendants in breach proceedings. She has also begun accepting instructions on behalf of the British Transport Police and the Driving and Vehicle Licensing Agency.

Recent cases

R v A: Represented a defendant at trial in Preston Crown Court for section 47 (actual bodily harm), section 39 (common assault) and theft offences where he was acquitted of everything.

R v W: Secured a 5 year sentence prosecuting a harassment (stalking) and breach of restraining order case. This case was covered in the Liverpool Echo.

R v S: Secured a 6 month suspended sentence for a defendant who breached his register requirements. This case was covered in the Warrington Guardian.
