Jayne has extensive experience in personal injury, clinical negligence, disease and fraudulent claims litigation, travelling throughout England and Wales. Jayne is frequently invited to provide lectures in all of the areas above, but particularly in the industrial disease field to both solicitor and insurer clients. She is registered with the Bar Council to undertake Public Access work and is able to receive instructions directly from lay clients, as well as those on the traditional professional client basis. Notable cases include: Dunn v National Grid Gas PLC [2010] Lawtel (level of damages, mesothelioma); White v E.On [2008] EWCA Civ 146 (limitation, HAVS); Brett v University of Reading [2007] EWCA Civ 88 (breach of duty, mesothelioma).

Nikhil completed his undergraduate degree in Law and French Law at The Queen’s College, Oxford and the University of Paris – Panthéon Assas. After the BPTC he undertook a Master of Laws LL.M in Medical Law at King’s College London, where his research essay was on the direct liability of institutions for medical negligence. During pupillage, Nikhil undertook a wide range of work on both the Small Claims and Fast Tracks, as well as applications in larger matters on the Multi Track. He prepared statements of claim, advices and skeleton arguments for his supervisors in all areas of Chambers’ work, and he intends to develop a broad-based civil practice.

Patrick specialises in all aspects of disease, personal injury and clinical negligence work. With over 15 years in silk, he has substantial experience acting on behalf of Claimants and Defendants in claims of maximum severity, having a particular interest in brain and spinal injuries, as well as claims of intractable pain. He was shortlisted at the Chambers and Partners UK Bar Awards for 2016 for “Personal Injury / Clinical Negligence – Silk of the Year“. He was winner of “Regional / Scottish Silk of the Year” at the Legal 500 UK Bar Awards 2017. With a successful track record in test litigation, group and multi-party actions, he has been named in Chambers & Partners’ Spotlight Table nationally for disease practitioners since its inception. His advisory and court work often involves challenging, novel issues (or safeguarding established orthodoxies). Such work has involved him in claims concerning complex damages awards and insurance coverage, both here and in other jurisdictions (Cayman Islands, Jersey, Gibraltar and Scotland). He acts regularly and variously in cases engaging product liability, the police, regulatory bodies and sports law. He is a highly experienced appellate advocate to Supreme Court level, having appeared in the final court on seven occasions. Sure-footed on law and procedure, he provides strategic thinking, commercial nous and seeks to serve each client by leading as an effective team-player.

His caseload has an equal claimant/defendant split and predominantly involves high-end Fast Track and Multi Track work. All types of PI work undertaken, including: Accidents at work Public liability claims Industrial disease (noise, vibration, asbestos etc) Clinical negligence Catastrophic and life-changing injuries Inquests Abuse claims (historic sexual and physical abuse) Philip is available to conduct remote hearings, as well as being able to travel nationally. In addition to his courtroom practice, he is regularly instructed on JSMs, CCMCs and drafting of pleadings. He has succeeded at all levels (up to the Supreme Court) and was successful when appearing in the Court of Appeal without a leader.

Rachel was called to the Bar in 2006.  As part of her degree, she completed a Diploma in French Law (Diplome d’Etudes Juridiques Francaises) at the Universite de Limoges, France. Thereafter, she obtained a Very Competent on the Bar Vocational Course at Nottingham Law School. She successfully completed pupillage at Ropewalk Chambers and became a tenant in 2007. Rachel is a specialist in high-value clinical negligence and personal injury claims, and related inquests.

In more than twenty years at the Bar, he has built a practice based primarily on complex or multi-party liability disputes, high-value quantum disputes, complex fatal accident cases, asbestos and other disease cases, and claims for psychiatric injury caused by work-related stress.
