Position

Samuel specialises in a range of areas across family and civil law, including:

• Family Finance.
• Private Law Children.
• Public Law Children.
• Family Law Act 1996 applications.
• Applications under TOLATA 1996.

Samuel is known for his thorough preparation and tactical approach to litigation. An assertive and fearsome cross-examiner, he regularly appears in cases involving complex factual and legal issues, whilst providing excellent client care.

Family Finance:

Samuel specialises in financial cases following the breakdown of a relationship. He frequently represents clients in a broad spectrum of family finance proceedings, including matrimonial finance, transfers of tenancy and applications for interim relief. Samuel is also able to advise on the financial aspects of private law children cases, including Schedule 1 Children Act applications.

Outside of court, Samuel represents clients in Private FDRs, arbitrations and mediations.

Private Law Children:

Samuel has extensive experience in private law children disputes, regularly appearing in complex cases involving allegations of controlling and coercive behaviour and parental alienation.

Samuel’s background in criminal litigation means that he is particularly experienced at dealing with cases involving complex factual disputes between parents. He also advises on cases with an international dimension and cases involving enforcement issues.

Public Law Children:

Samuel is regularly instructed across all areas of public law children proceedings in cases including: mental health issues, domestic abuse, chronic neglect and substance misuse. Samuel appears at all stages of public law children hearings, from interim care and supervision hearings to final hearing

Family Law Act 1996 applications:

Samuel has considerable experience in applications under the Family Law Act 1996, including non-molestation orders, occupation orders and transfer of tenancy applications. Samuel has particular experience involving allegations of serious domestic abuse, and advises in linked or imminent Children Act 1989 proceedings.

TOLATA 1996 applications:

Samuel also acts in cohabitation disputes and property disputes between unmarried couples under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996. Samuel’s background in civil litigation means that he can advise fully on the procedural aspects of these claims and is very familiar with the law relating to trusts.

Direct access:

Samuel is a registered public access practitioner, and welcomes instructions on a Direct Access basis.
