Career

Louise joined Westgate Chambers after the successful completion of her pupillage in 2018. Since commencing practice Louise enjoys a busy criminal practice, regularly prosecuting and defending in the Magistrates Court, Youth Court and Crown Court.

Alongside her criminal practice Louise frequently appears in the County Court acting on behalf of both Claimants and Defendants in MOJ Stage 3 hearings, small claims and credit hire cases. Louise also has an interest in Housing Law and has been instructed by Housing Associations following breaches of ASBIs.

Louise accepts instructions in all areas of Crime, Public and Private Children work as well as Civil including MOJ Stage 3 hearing, small claims and credit hire cases.

Prior to starting pupillage, Louise worked as a Paralegal in a small high street law firm within their family, litigation and criminal law departments.

Louise has gained a wide range of experience in these areas having managed a demanding caseload including Children Act and criminal proceedings. Louise has experience of managing vulnerable and distressed clients and is able to quickly build a successful rapport to enable them to feel at ease when providing full instructions.

Whilst completing her degree Louise was a Student Legal Advisor in the Student Law Office at Northumbria University providing full pro bono legal services to clients. Whilst working there she provided clear, concise and practical legal advice as well as successfully defending a client in relation to a road traffic matter.
