Bernard Weatherill

Called in 1976 and appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1996, Bernard has been in practice at the Chancery Bar for over 40 years. Callum joined Pallant as a tenant in 2019 following his successful completion of pupillage in Chambers. He accepts instructions in all of Chambers’ civil practice areas, and has a particular interest in Chancery and Property law. Callum represents both claimants and defendants in the County Court, and also for some regulatory matters in the Magistrates Court, and has appeared in contractual and negligence small claims hearings, possession proceedings, applications under the Civil Procedure Rules, and proceedings arising out of the Ministry of Justice’s procedure for personal injuries. Callum has also undertaken advisory work for clients on a broad range of legal problems in practice areas such as landlord and tenant law, consumer law, wills, sureties, and bailment. Dylan Morgan

Dylan regularly acts for Local Authorities, parents and children’s guardians in all aspects of public law children cases. Of these clients more than often Dylan acts on behalf of children’s guardians and separately represented children. He has also acted for interveners in both care order and placement order applications – in particular for foster carers who are pursuing placement by way of SGO or Child Arrangement Order in opposition to the Local Authority plans and for interveners in fact finding hearings. Dylan has particular interest in the more complex and difficult public law cases. Cases such as Factitious Induced Illness cases, Somatisation disorder, NAHI cases, Non-accidental injury cases, sexual abuse allegations (both current and historic) and cases that involve placements out of the jurisdiction. Eleanor Dewhurst

Elinor Hoile

Elinor practices in all areas of general civil litigation, but specialises in personal injury and clinical negligence. Prior to joining chambers as a pupil she gained 8 years’ experience and was team leader at a leading southern set of solicitors, dealing with claimant based litigation in the areas of road traffic accidents, occupiers’, employer’s and public liability claims. She therefore has an invaluable understanding of how cases are prepared and costs incurred prior to litigation. Elinor deals with claims of all ranges of quantum for both claimants and defendants, appearing as an advocate throughout the whole of the southern area. Eve Anstey

Eve specialises solely in family cases for private clients. Her experience in the areas of matrimonial finance, TOLATA, Children Act and domestic violence applications means that she is often instructed to assist one client through a number of proceedings; providing confidence and consistency. Her clients appreciate her straightforward and intelligent approach and she has a reputation for being well received by those clients who need robust advice and firm assistance in navigating through the court process. Eve is also able to handle vulnerable clients with sensitivity, compassion and well thought through advice. Felicity Thomas

Felicity specialises in land, property (encompassing housing) and planning. Undertaking work in both public and private sectors, she is known for her affability, technical expertise and fearlessness. She undertakes work for local government, Registered Providers, private developers, private and commercial landlords and interest groups throughout the country. Having come to the Bar from a career in housing, she has developed extensive breadth and depth of advocacy experience in the Senior Courts, including the Court of Appeal and the High Court, county courts, all levels of the Residential Property Chamber and at public hearings and inquiries. Her experience ranges from appearing as advocate in trials, substantive hearings, procedural applications, public inquiries and appeals as well as sitting as Inspector in Village Green public inquiries. In planning, Felicity has particular experience in all aspects of enforcement, s287 injunctions and appeals for parties at all levels from householders and developers to the Planning Authority. She has also acted for Rule 6 parties in planning appeals and is mindful of the need to work to fixed budgets. Her advisory work is broad; most recently including the impact of listing as an asset of community value, DMMO inquiries, tree preservation orders, enforcement appeals, certificates of lawfulness and siting of mobile homes in the green belt. Hazel Hobbs

Hazel practises predominantly in commercial and property law with her main areas of interest company law and insolvency complimenting her experience in the tax and accountancy industry. Hazel previously dealt with both personal and corporate taxation whilst being a partner in her family’s tax and accountancy firm. In particular Hazel’s in-depth knowledge of the inner workings of a range of different businesses enables her to tailor her approach to each client’s specific needs. Hazel always endeavours to put her clients at ease in their stressful journey throughout litigation. Hazel is a seasoned advocate and prides herself on meticulous preparation and her ability to think on her feet. Her previous experience practising in criminal law has given her extensive experience in advocacy and working under pressure. Ikeni Mbako-Allison

Ikeni is a third six pupil at Pallant Chambers practising in Commercial, Chancery, and Property, as well as Personal Injury. He is instructed to draft pleadings and advice in possession claims and represents clients at hearings in the same. He is an experienced personal injury lawyer who has regularly appeared in Fast Track trials and Small Claims, as well as Stage 3s, credit hire claims, infant settlements, and interim applications. He has assisted in a range of cases involving chancery, public, commercial, EU, competition, and sports law: advising and drafting for matters in the Court of Justice of the European Union, Court of Appeal, High Court, and Employment Tribunal. Ikeni also has advocacy experience in the Crown and Magistrates Courts. Nadia Tawfik

Prior to commencing her practice as a Barrister, Niamh also worked as an in-house legal advisor for an international oil and gas company providing legal advice across multiple jurisdictions. Niamh also worked as a Dispute Specialist Consultant for an international claims’ consultancy whereby she advised on and developed strategies to execute the most efficient and effective dispute resolution proceedings for her clients. Niamh’s practice in Ireland was primarily focused on family law, representing clients in matters such as judicial separation and divorce, including obtaining ancillary financial orders in such proceedings. Niamh has also advised clients in respect of jurisdictional challenges for matrimonial disputes involving parties residing in different countries. Niamh was selected by the Bar Council of Ireland for a secondment to the internationally renowned Innocence Project in Ohio, USA in 2016. Niamh also attained a specialised qualification in international dispute resolution from Queen Mary University, London.

Oliver Peirson

Peter Doughty

Peter is an Employment law specialist. Peter deals with all areas of discrimination covering employment claims, education and the provision of services. He is an expert in relation to disability discrimination. He has experience of dealing with stress and depression claims. His recent cases have involved whistle blowing, TUPE, unfair dismissal and sex/age/race/disability discrimination. He was involved in one of the earliest cases on reasonable adjustments under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (Kenny v Hampshire Constabulary (1999) ICR 27) as well as the case of Rowden v Dutton Gregory (a firm) (2002) ICR 971. He acted for a number of local authorities in respect of multiple equal pay claims arising out of the implementation of single status and the consequent regrading exercises. He regularly advises local authorities and fire authorities in relation to strategic as well as individual employment matters. He has appeared in multi-day hearings relating to discrimination, whistle blowing and unfair dismissal over the last couple of years both for Respondents and Claimants. He is presently involved in advising and representing a local authority trading company on TUPE and changes to terms and conditions of employment. Robert Herrod

Robert studied Law at Oxford University and The University of Paris, Panthéon-Assas. While at Oxford, he won a number of scholarships and a prize for the best performance in Tort Law. Following this, he undertook a Master’s degree in Comparative Private Law at the University of Edinburgh, where his research essay examined constructive trusts in multiple common law jurisdictions. Robert joined Chambers following the successful completion of his pupillage in February 2020. He accepts instructions in all of Chambers’ civil practice areas and has a particular interest in Contractual Disputes, Probate, Personal Injury and Landlord and Tenant. Robert represents claimants and defendants in fast track and small claims hearings. He has recently appeared in cases involving: fraudulent misrepresentation, breach of contract, credit hire, road traffic accidents, possession proceedings and various applications under the Civil Procedure Rules. Trevor Ward

Trevor has in excess of 25 years’ experience specialising in Planning and Local Government work and for many years he has practised exclusively in the areas of planning, highways, public rights of way and certain issues relating to town and village green matters. Trevor practises in most aspects of town and country planning and within the field of highway law he has particular interest in matters concerning public rights of way. Trevor is regularly instructed in judicial review proceedings and statutory appeals to the High Court within the areas of his practice. Trevor is a former lecturer in law and has been in practice at the Bar on the south coast since 1991. Victoria Holroyd

Victoria’s practice focuses on family financial matters; cohabitation and trusts of land; and proprietary estoppel.  She also undertakes Schedule 1 cases, Inheritance Act claims and civil work such as commercial and contractual disputes, easements and other property disputes. She is instructed in High Court, Family Court (sitting both in the County Courts and CFC) and County Court matters. She also represents parties in private FDRs, mediations and arbitrations. She is qualified and authorised to accept public access instructions. Victoria is highly numerate with a number of financial qualifications, an MBA and additional experience as an adviser and investment manager in private equity / venture capital.
