During periods of instability or crises, I approach managing legal aspects with a strategic and proactive mindset. Firstly, I prioritise communication and collaboration with key stakeholders across the organization to understand immediate challenges and assess legal risks comprehensively. This involves closely monitoring regulatory changes and potential legal implications that could impact our operations. 

In these situations, more than ever, the lawyer must act as a strategic partner to the business by integrating into their strategy the evolving needs brought on by the crisis, regulatory changes, risk monitoring and assessment, and regulatory compliance programs. It’s crucial to recognise that financial performance drives businesses’ stability and growth. Therefore, lawyers must comprehensively understand and align all these elements to provide effective support and guidance.  

This process should be dynamic and accompanied by an ongoing innovation process, while maintaining close alignment with the development of artificial intelligence. It’s also crucial to foster transparency and close engagement with the company’s clients, consumers, and workforce regarding the company’s strategy and objectives. 

What emerging technologies do you see as having the most significant impact on the legal profession in the near future, and how do you stay updated on these developments  

I see several emerging technologies poised to significantly impact the legal profession soon. Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning are transforming how legal research, document analysis, and predictive analytics are conducted, enhancing efficiency and accuracy in legal practices. Blockchain technology is revolutionising areas such as smart contracts and secure document storage, offering unprecedented levels of transparency and security.  

To stay updated on these developments, I regularly engage with legal tech forums, attend conferences, and participate in specialised training programs focused on emerging technologies. This proactive approach allows me to integrate cutting-edge tools and strategies into my practice, ultimately providing more effective and innovative solutions to clients.
